`Proof of Use

This Proof of Use is enforced automatically by a smart contract, before the transferability of their FOAM Tokens is enabled. This requirement will exist alongside the initial use period referred to below, and in FOAM Token purchasers’ case, they will be expected to contribute as Cartographers through the static proof of location functionality or signaling mechanisms to prove use. As part of our drive to ensure FOAM Tokens are used as intended by purchasers, there will also be an Initial Use Period (i.e., a 45 day period) where FOAM Tokens are usable, but not transferable outside of the FOAM protocol. This Initial Use Period is to ensure users participate, gain a deeper familiarity with the FOAM protocol by engaging with the interface and work flow, and use FOAM Tokens as intended.

Key Points:

Please note that the above dates, requirements and other details within this blog post are subject to change without notice at Foamspace’s discretion. We will of course endeavor to keep the community updated should any necessary changes arise. To learn more about the technical aspects of the FOAM protocol and the role of the FOAM Token within the FOAM protocol and network, see our Product Mens Casual Cowhide Leather Soft Flat Shoes Handwork CapToe Laceup LowCut Loafers Black QMPAy

FOAM White Paper Release — The Consensus Driven Map of the World

To ensure appropriate adoption, diffusion, and expansion of the FOAM network, all FOAM Token purchasers must prove their use of FOAM Tokens upon receipt. Token holders can do this through the initial utilities of staking their FOAM Tokens to either (1) the FOAM Token Curated Registry for Geographic Points of Interest (a TCR POI for short) on the Spatial Index, or (2) to Signal. This requirement is intended to ensure that purchasers both understand and intend to contribute efforts as Cartographers in building out the FOAM network.

The FOAM Spatial Index Visualizer allows Cartographers to participate in interactive TCR POIs on a map. Users can add points to the map, validate new candidates and verify the map by visiting real world locations. The FOAM Token Curated Registry unlocks mapping in a secure and permissionless fashion and allows locations to be ranked and maintained by token balances. Users can deposit FOAM Tokens into POIs on the map to increase attention those POIs might receive.

A further potential use of the FOAM Token by Cartographers is to stake their FOAM Tokens to Signal. Signaling is a mechanism designed to allow Cartographers to incentivize the expansion and geographic coverage of the FOAM network. To Signal, a Cartographer stakes FOAM Tokens to a Signaling smart contract by reference to a particular area. These staked tokens serve as indicators of demand, and are proportionate to (i) the length of time staking (the earlier, the better), and (ii) the number of tokens staked (the less well-served areas, the better). In the context of the contingent Dynamic Proof of Location concept (described further in the Product Whitepaper), these indicators are the weighted references that determine the spatial mining rewards.
